Mercedes Expands EV Lineup with New GLC Electric SUV

Mercedes-Benz is expanding its EV lineup with an electric GLC. The 2027 Mercedes-Benz GLC is equipped with EQ Technology and is set to launch in late 2026.

The 2027 GLC EV will ride on the company’s brand-new electric platform. Mercedes-Benz’s new electric vehicle separates itself from its gas-powered sibling with a longer wheelbase, distinct design elements, and an advanced interior. The upcoming model is expected to compete directly with the new BMW iX3.

Two trims bring different power levels

According to Mercedes-Benz, it will offer two trims of its 2027 GLC EV. The first to arrive will be the GLC 400 4Matic trim, featuring dual motors that produce 483 horsepower and 596 lb-ft of torque. The first GLC EV trim can sprint 0–60 mph in 4.4 seconds.

The company will then launch the single-motor GLC300+ with 369 horsepower and 372 lb-ft of torque. The second trim is capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in 5.9 seconds. Both versions feature a rear-mounted two-speed transmission, which balances strong acceleration, towing power, and efficiency at higher speeds.

Technology, range, and charging improvements

Inside the 2027 GLC EV, Mercedes will offer its largest Hyperscreen to date, spanning 39.1 inches across the dashboard and supporting advanced features such as Microsoft Teams integration.

Meanwhile, for charging, the new GLC EV features an 800-volt system paired with a 94.0-kWh battery, allowing for 10–80 percent charging in just 24 minutes. Range estimates for the GLC EV are reported to be around 376 miles, based on WLTP data. Mercedes is emphasizing improved serviceability through a more repairable battery architecture. The prices for the new electric Mercedes-Benz will be announced closer to the GLC EV’s late-2026 launch.
