The 2027 GMC Sierra EV will introduce three new camera-based features designed to improve convenience, security, and driver awareness.

The electric pickup also gains a factory-installed North American Charging Standard (NACS) port, giving owners direct access to Tesla’s Supercharger network and other compatible charging stations.

New camera technologies expand functionality

The 2027 Sierra EV adds three new features powered by an interior cabin camera and the truck’s existing exterior camera system, according to GM Authority.

One of the additions is Cabin Glance, which lets drivers view the interior of the vehicle without turning around. The feature can be used to check on rear-seat passengers, pets, or cargo inside the cabin.

The second feature, Surround Vision Recorder, allows owners to record video using the vehicle’s surround-view camera system. Drivers can save footage from multiple exterior camera angles to a USB storage device, making it useful for documenting trips or preserving video after an incident.

The third addition is Security Recording, which automatically captures video from the truck’s exterior cameras if the vehicle’s alarm is activated while parked. The recordings may help document attempted theft, vandalism, or other suspicious activity.

NACS charging joins the updates

Beyond the new camera technologies, the 2027 GMC Sierra EV also adopts the North American Charging Standard charging port.

The change allows the electric pickup to connect directly to Tesla Superchargers and other charging networks that support the NACS connector, expanding charging options for owners.

Production of the 2027 Sierra EV is scheduled to begin on Oct. 12, 2026, at GM’s Factory Zero assembly plant. Dealer ordering opened on Aug. 8, and all versions of the truck continue to ride on General Motors’ BT1 electric vehicle platform.
