Ford has removed Phone As A Key capability from the entry-level Select trim of the 2027 Mustang Mach-E after including the digital key feature as standard equipment on the 2026 Select.

Shoppers who want smartphone-based locking and starting will now need to step up to at least the Premium trim, even as Ford makes the extended-range battery standard across all models.

Select loses phone-as-a-key as extended-range batteries become standard

Phone As A Key lets drivers approach, unlock, start and walk away from the electric crossover using a paired smartphone rather than a physical key fob.

While dropping the digital key from the base model removes a convenience feature on the entry trim, Ford has simultaneously retired the smaller standard-range battery pack for 2027 so every Mach-E now ships with the larger extended-range pack, according to Ford Authority.

Dual-motor Select eAWD buyers can also order the new $2,295 Trail Package, which adds a passive suspension lift of 10 mm up front and 15 mm in back, the Mustang Mach-E Rally’s steering rack, 19-inch High Gloss Dark Carbonized Gray wheels wrapped in Michelin CrossClimate 2 tires and a 400-watt Pro Power Onboard outlet.

Connectivity packages add included services and BlueCruise options

Every 2027 Mustang Mach-E now includes a complimentary one-year trial of both the Ford Connectivity Package and the Ford Security Package, with a one-time activation option available for buyers who prefer not to subscribe annually.

Hands-free BlueCruise 1.5 highway driving—bundled with one year plus 90 days of service—comes standard on the Mach-E GT and can be added to the Select via the optional Tech Pack Lite or to the Premium via the Premium Tech Pack.
