The change may appear minor, but it gives buyers a fresh choice as GM readies its broader EV lineup.

Chevrolet’s most affordable U.S. electric vehicle, the Equinox EV, enters its third model year in 2026 with a subtle but noteworthy update to its RS trim interior.
Known for sporty styling and premium details, the RS now features a revised Adrenaline Red interior option that flips the seat color layout. The change may appear minor, but it gives buyers a fresh choice as GM readies its broader EV lineup.
For the 2024 and 2025 model years, the Equinox EV RS with the Adrenaline Red interior (color code EPJ) featured seat cushions finished in red with black bolsters on the sides. For 2026, Chevrolet has reversed the design: the seats now have black centers, while the red has been moved to the outer bolsters.
The update keeps the two-tone aesthetic but alters the visual emphasis, shifting from bold red interiors to a more subtle black-dominant look accented by red. Buyers who preferred the original red-centered design will need to seek out earlier models, according to GM Authority.

Beyond the color shift, the RS trim continues to offer its signature sporty cues, including black emblems, mirrors, wheels, and a more aggressive front and rear fascia design. Red “RS” badging also returns to highlight the performance-inspired trim.
Positioned as GM’s entry-level electric SUV until the return of the Chevy Bolt in 2027, the Equinox EV remains an important piece in Chevrolet’s electrification strategy. While the seat update is small, it underscores GM’s ongoing efforts to refresh details and keep its most affordable EV appealing as the market grows increasingly competitive.
