Volvo’s EX90 Will Reach Dealerships In The Second Half Of The Year

Volvo has marked a major milestone in its electric vehicle (EV) venture as its first all-electric EX90 SUV rolled off the production line at its plant outside Charleston, South Carolina.

The Charleston plant in South Carolina was first opened in the summer of 2018 in the United States (U.S.), where it now manufactures the EX90 EV model and the S60 plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV) model. Moreover, the Charleston plant is capable of producing up to 150,000 vehicles per year according to Volvo.
As for Volvo’s EX90 model, it was first revealed in 2022 as the company’s flagship electric SUV that comes with cutting-edge technology, enhanced safety features, and a distinctive Scandinavian design. However, production delays have sidetracked the EV model to reach dealerships. Nevertheless, the EX90 model will hit dealerships later this year.

In regards to its specs, the EX90 has a starting price of $77,000 in the U.S. and with a 111 kWh battery. The Volvo EX90 also delivers a range of up to 300 miles, with fast-charging capabilities allowing for a 10% to 80% charge in merely 30 minutes. Notably, in terms of the battery aspects of the model, Volvo has implemented EV battery passport that will include information on its composition, material origins, recycled content, and carbon footprint.
CEO of Volvo Cars Jim Rowan expressed enthusiasm for the EX90 rolling off the assembly line in the Charleston plant stating, “The EX90 is proudly manufactured in the USA and reflects our long-term commitment to our people in South Carolina and the broader US market.”
With Volvo’s goal to be fully electrified by 2030, the company is on track to reaching this goal with its recent initiatives and actions. Through its innovative approach to electric mobility and dedication to customer satisfaction, Volvo continues to set new benchmarks for the EV market.
