Volvo has announced that deliveries of its new EX30 fully electric vehicle (EV) model will begin in the United States (U.S.) by the end of 2024 – much sooner than anticipated.

Entering the Premium Small SUV Market

The EX30, which has already proven immensely popular in Europe, will mark Volvo’s expansion into the premium small electric SUV segment in the U.S. market. Volvo Car USA is prioritizing the delivery of the top-spec EX30 Twin Motor Performance variant, which delivers 422 horsepower and can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds, which makes it the quickest Volvo model ever produced.

“Volvo has been and always will be about people, which is why we worked hard to make the Volvo EX30 available sooner than anticipated for our customers,” stated Mike Cottone, President of Volvo Car USA and Canada. “The EX30 has already proved exceptionally popular in other markets, and we’re excited to bring it to the U.S. this year.”

Pricing and Pre-Order Configurations

The EX30 Twin Motor Performance model starts at $44,900, with Plus and Ultra equipment levels available. Volvo has already begun inviting buyers who placed pre-orders to configure their EVs, with deliveries starting before the end of 2024. The more affordable Single Motor variant is still scheduled to arrive in the U.S. in 2025.

Featuring Volvo’s signature safety, quality, and Scandinavian design, the EX30 also possesses notable performance and efficiency. The extended-range Twin Motor variant can charge from 10% to 80% in just over 25 minutes, thanks to its 153 kW charging capacity. The EPA-estimated range for the Twin Motor is 253 miles.

The EX30’s early U.S. arrival follows initial delays due to global supply chain challenges, including a new 100% tariff on EV imports from China, where the vehicle is produced. Volvo has since accelerated production at its plant in Ghent, Belgium to meet the demand.

Industry Accolades

The EX30 has already garnered significant industry recognition, winning awards such as the 2023 Popular Science Best of What’s New, 2024 World Urban Car of the Year, and the prestigious Red Dot: Best of the Best Product Design 2024.

With its combination of premium features, competitive pricing, and accelerated U.S. availability, the Volvo EX30 appears set to make a strong impression in the growing U.S. EV market.
