Volkswagen is making a strategic move in the United Kingdom’s (UK) electric vehicle (EV) market by introducing revised trim levels for its ID.3, ID.4, and ID.5 models.

New ID.3 Trims: Pure Essential & Match

The ID.3 hatchback leads the lineup with two new trims: Pure Essential and Pure Match. Starting at £30,850 (around $39,300), the Pure Essential offers an entry-level 52 kWh battery pack providing a WLTP range of up to 241 miles. The more feature-rich Pure Match, priced at £32,210 (around $41,034), comes with enhancements like 18-inch East Derry alloy wheels, heated front seats, and a two-zone climate control system.

Both new ID.3 trims feature a rear motor producing 125 kW and 310 Nm of torque, enabling a 0 to 62 mph acceleration in 7.6 seconds and a top speed of 99 mph. The battery supports rapid charging, taking just 25 minutes to charge from 10% to 80% at a peak input of 145 kW.

ID.4 & ID.5 Updates: Price Cuts & More

The ID.4 and ID.5 models also receive updates. The ID.4 Pure Match now comes with 19-inch Hamar alloy wheels and a significant price reduction of £3,090 (around $3,936), bringing its price down to £39,550 (around $50,385). The ID.5 Pure Match introduces the same 52 kWh battery pack, reducing its entry price to £41,050 (around $52,296) with a range of 226 miles.

ID.4 & ID.5 GTX Editions for Performance

Furthermore, Volkswagen is offering new GTX Edition trims for the ID.4 and ID.5. These models deliver an impressive 340 PS of power, accelerating from 0 to 62 mph in just 5.4 seconds with a top speed of 112 mph. The GTX Edition trims include premium features like a 360-degree camera system, electric tailgate, semi-autonomous driving assist, and power-adjustable seats with a massage function.

The ID.4 GTX Edition is priced at £52,205 (around $66,507), while the ID.5 GTX Edition comes in at £53,705 (around $68,414) – offering significant value considering these features would typically cost around £6,500 (around $8,280) when ordered separately.

Volkswagen Meets UK’s ZEV Mandate

These updates come as Volkswagen responds to mounting pressure to meet the UK’s Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) mandate, positioning itself competitively in the EV market. As a result,the revised lineup offers improved affordability, enhanced features, and a range of options to suit different customer preferences and budgets.
