Volkswagen Opens Orders for ID. Cross With Smaller 37 kWh Battery

Volkswagen has opened pre-sales in Germany for the ID. Cross equipped with a 37 kWh battery, adding a lower-capacity option to the electric SUV’s lineup.

The new version offers a WLTP range of up to 324 kilometers, with a starting price of €27,995 for the Trend trim with an 85 kW (116 PS) powertrain.

Smaller Battery Offers Two Power Options and 324 km of Range

The 37 kWh battery joins the 52 kWh version introduced earlier for the ID. Cross. Volkswagen is targeting city drivers and commuters who want a lower entry price.

It comes with either 85 kW (116 PS) or 99 kW (135 PS) of output and a top speed of 160 km/h, according to Volkswagen.

The smaller-battery ID. Cross supports DC fast charging at up to 90 kW. Volkswagen says charging from 10% to 80% takes approximately 23 minutes. The company presents the configuration as an entry-level option for customers looking to reduce purchase and operating costs while retaining the model’s core features.

The 37 kWh battery is available across the Trend, Life and Style equipment lines. All prices and specifications cited here refer to the German market.

Equipment Includes Driver Assistance and Premium Options

Volkswagen says the ID. Cross is otherwise unchanged regardless of battery size, keeping its SUV design, large displays and roomy interior.

The base Trend comes standard with front and rear Park Distance Control and App Connect smartphone integration, while the Life and Style trims add more comfort and tech features.

Depending on trim, available options include Connected Travel Assist, which can draw on networked data for predictive assisted driving, as well as a Harman Kardon audio system, a panoramic sunroof and 12-way power-adjustable massage seats.

The smaller battery expands the ID. Cross lineup with a configuration Volkswagen says is suited to urban driving and commuting, while the vehicle’s stated maximum speed also accommodates motorway travel.
