Toyota is making a bold entry into the world’s largest electric vehicle (EV) market with its new bZ3X electric SUV, a strategically priced model designed specifically for the Chinese market.

A Low-Cost Electric Solution

Priced starting at RMB 100,000 (around $13,800), the bZ3X represents Toyota’s aggressive approach to expanding its EV portfolio. The SUV is available for pre-orders in three trim levels, with prices ranging up to RMB 200,000 ($27,500), making it an attractive option for budget-conscious buyers.

The EV model is a joint venture between Toyota and GAC, specifically tailored to meet the needs of the Chinese market. Unlike Toyota’s global bZ4X model, the bZ3X is a China-exclusive design that combines innovative technology with an affordable price point.

Cutting-Edge Technology at an Accessible Price

The Toyota bZ3X redefines value by combining affordability with advanced features. Leading the charge is the Momenta 5.0 Intelligent Driving System, powered by NVIDIA Drive AGX Orin X, delivering 25 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) capabilities.

Key technological highlights include a 14.6-inch infotainment system with voice recognition, an 8.8-inch LCD driver display, and intelligent driving functionalities such as high-speed pilot and automatic parking. Adding to its appeal, the bZ3X contains a unique “Cozy Mobile Home” interior concept, complete with flat-folding seats for maximum flexibility.

Powered by a 50.03 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, the bZ3X offers impressive range options including the 430 Air+ with 267 miles of range, the 520 Pro+ with an estimated 323 miles of range, and the 620 Max with an estimated 385 miles of range. In addition, the EV model can charge from 30% to 80% in just 24 minutes, addressing one of the key concerns for potential EV buyers.

Design and Comfort

Toyota has embraced a “new Chinese style” with the bZ3X, blending modern elegance with practical functionality. Notable design features include split headlights, concealed door handles, a crystalline light strip with 112 LEDs, and a panoramic roof. Buyers can choose from seven color options, including eye-catching shades like Sky Pink and Cyber Gold.

For the interior, the bZ3X offers unparalleled comfort and utility. Its innovative interior design includes front seats that lay completely flat, creating nearly 10 feet of flexible space—perfect for relaxation or storage. This thoughtful combination of style and practicality ensures the bZ3X stands out in the competitive EV market.

Pre-orders are now open, with an initial deposit of just $275 securing priority delivery. The official launch is scheduled for March 2025, marking an exciting new chapter for Toyota in the EV space.

While U.S. consumers will need to wait longer for new Toyota EV models (with the next three-row electric SUV delayed until 2026), the bZ3X showcases the company’s commitment to innovative, affordable EVs.

As the global automotive industry continues its rapid electrification, Toyota’s bZ3X demonstrates how advanced EV technology can become increasingly accessible to a broader range of consumers.
