Tesla has begun listing ready-to-deliver Cybertrucks in its new electric vehicle (EV) inventory, suggesting the electric automaker has worked through its initial reservation backlog after around 50,000 deliveries in the United States (U.S.).

Both the Dual Motor and premium Cyberbeast configurations are now available for immediate delivery, with the Foundation Series models being the first to appear in existing inventory.

Foundation Series Specifications

Based on Tesla’s inventory, the Foundation Series Cybertruck, priced starting at $99,990, offers a well-rounded package for potential buyers. The all-wheel-drive version boasts an EPA-estimated range of 318 miles, allowing for long-distance travel with impressive towing capabilities of up to 11,000 pounds.

In terms of acceleration, the Cybertruck can go from 0-60 mph in just 4.1 seconds. It also comes equipped with supervised Full Self-Driving capability, providing a glimpse of Tesla’s advanced autonomous driving technology. Other premium features include lifetime connectivity, 20-inch Cyber Wheels with 35-inch tires, and the option to choosebetween a Tactical Grey or White Décor interior.

For those seeking enhanced performance, the higher-end Cyberbeast edition is available for $119,990. While it sacrifices a bit of range, offering 301 miles, it makes up for it with outstanding acceleration, achieving 0-60 mph in just 2.6 seconds. Despite the reduced range, the Cyberbeast still matches the Foundation Series with a towing capacity of 11,000 pounds and includes the same premium features found in the all-wheel-drive version.

Factors Behind the Shift

Several factors seem to have contributed to the depletion of Tesla’s reservation backlog. Firstly, the initial $100 deposit requirement for the Cybertruck was much lower compared to previous Tesla vehicle launches, which may have resulted in less committed reservations.

Additionally, the production version’s final specifications, particularly the range, fell short of the ambitious numbers initially promised. Lastly, the higher-than-expected pricing in the production models may have deterred some potential buyers, causing them to reconsider their reservations.

To manage increasing production capacity, Tesla has expanded deliveries to Mexico and Canada. The company’s ability to fulfill new orders within around one week for customers without prior reservations further indicates the end of the prolonged waiting period that typically accompanies Tesla vehicle launches.

A Shift in Tesla’s Delivery Strategy

This availability in existing inventory represents a notable departure from Tesla’s usual practice of maintaining lengthy reservation lists for new vehicle programs, suggesting a potential mismatch between initial enthusiasm and actual purchase commitment for the uniquely designed electric pickup truck.
