Tesla has expanded its Cybertruck electric vehicle (EV) ownership options by launching a new leasing program in the United States (U.S.), offering buyers a more flexible way to get behind the wheel of the popular electric pickup truck.

Monthly Pricing and Down Payments

According to Tesla, the base All-Wheel Drive (AWD) model can be leased for as low as $999 per month with a $7,500 down payment on a 36-month term. For those preferring to avoid the down payment, monthly costs increase to $1,249. The high-performance Cyberbeast variant commands higher rates, starting at $1,204 monthly with the same down payment over 36 months.

In detail, the leasing program offers flexible terms of either 24 or 36 months, with annual mileage options of 10,000, 12,000, or 15,000 miles. Despite the seemingly high monthly payments, the Cybertruck has emerged as the third-best-selling EV in the country

Notably, while direct purchases of the Cybertruck do not qualify for the $7,500 federal tax credit under the Inflation Reduction Act, leased vehicles can still benefit from this incentive.

Meeting Demand and Clearing Backlog

As a result, the move to offer leasing arrives as Tesla works through its initial backlog of Cybertruck orders. The current pricing represents a significant departure from CEO Elon Musk’s 2019 announcement of a $39,900 starting price, with initial versions of the truck reaching over $100,000.

While U.S. buyers can now lease or purchase the Cybertruck without a prior reservation, Canadian customers will have to wait longer, as deliveries of the Foundation Series have only recently begun in Canada, with regular versions not expected until 2025.

Flexible Leasing Ownership

With Tesla’s new leasing program for the Cybertruck, it provides a flexible alternative for U.S. buyers amid high demand, enabling more accessible options despite rising costs and delivery delays in Canada. As a result, this initiative not only broadens Tesla’s appeal to a wider audience but also leverages leasing incentives, keeping the Cybertruck competitive in the EV market.
