Rivian Launches Connect+: Elevating The In-Car Experience For R1 EVs

Rivian has unveiled Connect+, which is the company’s comprehensive streaming and connectivity service for its R1 electric vehicle (EV). This software update advances Rivian’s infotainment, offering seamless access to entertainment and enhanced connectivity.

Connect+ introduces a host of fully integrated streaming apps including Apple Music, Audible. According to Rivian, its owners can now access over 100 million songs and thousands of playlists through Apple Music, stream premium audiobooks and podcasts through Audible, and will soon be able to cast content from over 3,000 apps directly to their EV’s display.

Moreover, the service also maintains support for previously integrated apps including Spotify, Tidal, and TuneIn. Beyond entertainment, Connect+ enhances connectivity with features such as a vehicle hot spot for up to eight devices, satellite navigation images, and Alexa Connected commands.

Notably, Rivian offers the option to configure vehicles with Rivian Premium Audio featuring Dolby Atmos for an immersive spatial audio experience. This setup aims to deliver unparalleled sound quality.

Rivian had previously announced that it will introduce video streaming in its R1 EVs with the YouTube app and Google Cast. With the addition of the Connect+, Rivian’s R1 EVs will deliver a more immersive experience in its infotainment system.

As Connect+ positions Rivian as a strong competitor in the evolving landscape of in-vehicle entertainment systems, it will pose a challenge to other systems including Apple CarPlay. After a two-month trial period for all Rivian owners, Connect+ will be priced at $14.99 per month or $149.99 annually. This is in addition to any fees for individual streaming subscriptions.
