In a blend of classic British design and electric vehicle (EV) technology, RBW EV Cars has made its U.S. debut at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance by unveiling its first-ever left-hand drive (LHD) Roadster and GT models

Tailored for the American market, both models showcase RBW’s goal of reviving British sports cars from the 1960s and 1970s with electric powertrains. According to RBW EV Cars, the RBW Roadster, starting at $139,000, offers a driving range of up to 160 miles. While the GT model, priced from $151,000, features a performance-inspired design originally crafted by PininFarina.

Moreover, the Roadster weighs in at 2,535 lbs, while the GT is slightly heavier at 2,668 lbs. Both models have a top speed of 90 mph and can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in under 8 seconds. The electric powertrain utilizes six Turntide Lithium-Ion GEN4 battery modules, offering a 7 KW DC charging capability with a recharge time of 4 hours.

These hand-crafted EVs arrive with modern amenities despite their classic appearance. Both the Roadster and GT come equipped with a 9-inch Pioneer touchscreen multimedia player, supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, satellite navigation, and DAB digital radio. The interiors can be customized with a selection of 16 standard paint colors and 9 leather options, with bespoke choices available upon request.

CEO Peter Swain expressed the importance of this move stating, “The global launch of our first ever left-hand drive Roadster and GT models are punctuated by the enormous popularity and demand for our classic EV British sports cars in the U.S.”

RBW EV Cars, a family-run business founded in 2017, started operations at its new advanced plant in Lichfield, England, late last year. As part of their expansion plans, RBW EV Cars is set to announce a new United States (U.S.) plant on August 16th, which shows progressing growth for the company. Interestingly, RBW EV Cars had received a £10 million investment from Meson Capital Partners for expanding its operations, manufacturing, sales and marketing on a global scale.

Notably, the unveiling at Pebble Beach featured an immersive British-themed display, allowing visitors to explore the EVs up close and learn more about RBW’s mission through interactive kiosks and video presentations.

With RBW’s electric Roadster and GT models presenting an opportunity to experience vintage British sports cars with the benefits of contemporary EV technology, these EVs carve out a niche that celebrates automotive heritage while embracing EV characteristics that further accelerate EV adoption.
