In a dramatic move that blends classic styling with cutting-edge electric vehicle (EV) technology, Britain’s oldest active vehicle manufacturer, AC Cars, has unveiled the all-new AC Ace Classic Electric at the 2024 SEMA Show in Las Vegas.

Modern EV Tech Meets Classic Design

Developed in collaboration with electrified performance partner TREMEC Electric GT, the AC Ace Classic Electric pays homage to the brand’s illustrious heritage, including the famous Brooklands record-breaking model from 1922. This limited-edition roadster combines the elegance of a vintage sports car with the exhilaration of modern EV technology.

Under the classic hand-laid carbon fiber body, the AC Ace Classic Electric features a bespoke TREMEC EV powertrain, delivering a potent 300 horsepower and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque. This allows the lightweight 2,500 lb roadster to sprint from 0 to 62 mph in just 4.9 seconds, all while offering a range of over 200 miles on a full charge thanks to its 72 kWh battery.

“It’s an honor to be at SEMA with TREMEC, and the response to the new AC Ace roadster has been phenomenal,” stated Alan Lubinsky, Chairman of AC Cars. “To be able to craft such an amazing looking car that draws on the latest EV technology is a milestone for a company that’s celebrating its 123rd anniversary.”

Heritage and Customization Options

In addition to the standard AC Ace Classic Electric, buyers can also opt for the AC Ace Bristol Classic Electric, which features the earlier “smiling face” design from the model’s 1953 launch. Both variants contain a balanced 50/50 weight distribution, ensuring the classic driving experience is maintained despite the modern electric powertrain.

“TREMEC and AC Cars are two companies that understand the importance of heritage and integrity, yet both are committed to challenging convention and breaking new ground,” stated Antonio Herrera, Managing Director of TREMEC. “The development of the new AC Ace Classic Electric has seen us embrace fresh thinking and new concepts in order to innovate, and we’re excited about the road ahead together.”

Limited Production and Pricing

With only 49 units available for the initial launch, the AC Ace Classic Electric and AC Ace Bristol Classic Electric represent a rare opportunity for enthusiasts to own a piece of British automotive history reborn as a modern, sports EV. Pricing starts at £212,000 ($275,000), with deliveries scheduled to start in 2025.

With the AC Ace Classic Electric on display during the 2024 SEMA Show, this showcases the company’s aim to blend its storied legacy with an eye for the future of high-performance, zero-emission driving.
