The collection, which builds upon the successful 2022 Polestar 2 Arctic Circle concept, now includes specially modified versions of the Polestar 3 and Polestar 4, set to make their public debut at the 2025 FAT Ice Race in Zell am See, Austria, on February 1.

These one-off vehicles represent more than just aesthetic modifications – they embody Polestar’s deep connection to performance and Scandinavian design principles. Each model has undergone extensive engineering enhancements at the company’s Swedish R&D facilities, where they were developed under the guidance of Joakim Rydholm, Polestar’s Head of Driving Dynamics.

The technical specifications showcase exceptional attention to detail across all three models. The Polestar 2 Arctic Circle, based on the Long Range Dual Motor variant, delivers 350 kW of power and features a unique drift-inspired hydraulic handbrake. The Polestar 3 Arctic Circle, the most powerful of the trio with 380 kW and 910 Nm of torque, contains a world-premiere set of OZ Racing Rally Legend wheels. The Polestar 4 Arctic Circle rounds out the collection with 400 kW of power and specialized ski mounts featuring blackcrows all-terrain skis.

All three vehicles share several key modifications designed for extreme winter performance. These include custom Öhlins 3-way adjustable dampers with external gas reservoirs, increased ride heights ranging from 20mm to 40mm, and specialized Pirelli Scorpion All-Terrain Plus tires fitted with 4-mm studs for enhanced grip on icy surfaces. Rally-inspired additions such as Swedish gold tow hooks, mud flaps, Recaro bucket seats, and Stedi Quad Pro LED front spotlights complete the performance-focused package.

Polestar CEO Michael Lohscheller emphasized the significance of these vehicles stating, “The Arctic Circle collection illustrates our unique performance DNA, rooted in motorsport and combined with Scandinavian design. We develop our cars under challenging conditions within the Arctic Circle in Sweden, and at the FAT Ice Race, we will showcase that on ice, there is nothing better than a Polestar.”

While these vehicles won’t be competing in the FAT Ice Race, they will perform demonstration laps on the ice track, driven by professional drivers and Polestar engineers, including multiple STCC and WTCC champion Thed Björk. This public showcase will demonstrate the vehicles’ capabilities in extreme winter conditions and highlight Polestar’s commitment to maintaining its performance heritage even as it transitions to all EVs.

The Arctic Circle collection serves as a reminder of Polestar’s origins as Volvo’s motorsport and performance division before becoming an independent EV automaker. Though these particular vehicles are one-off concepts not intended for production, they represent an exciting fusion of rally car heritage with modern EV technology, suggesting potential future directions for performance-oriented EVs.
