Nissan Revives NISMO Brand In Europe with Launch Of Ariya NISMO EV

Nissan is set to reintroduce its performance brand, NISMO, to the European market with the launch of the Ariya NISMO electric vehicle (EV). This results in the return of NISMO to Europe after a four-year absence and coincides with the company’s 40th anniversary.

The Ariya NISMO is based on the 87 kWh Ariya e-4ORCE model. While specific power figures have not been disclosed, Nissan has confirmed several performance upgrades. These include a fine-tuned e-4ORCE all-wheel drive (AWD) system for enhanced power and torque distribution, revised suspension, and upgraded brake pads for improved stopping power according to Nissan. 

In terms of exterior design, the Ariya NISMO stands out with its aerodynamic body kit featuring black and red accents, new 20-inch wheels, and revised front and rear bumpers. The aerodynamic enhancements are designed to cut down drag and ramp up downforce at higher speeds.

As for the interior, the NISMO continues to arrive with a black interior accented by red trim on the center console and decorative stitching. There are also special NISMO seats, inspired by Formula E race cars, providing increased support and a sportier feel. Interestingly, Nissan and Formula E have partnered up with Nissan committing to the upcoming GEN4 era until at least 2030.

Mayra González, Divisional Vice President Marketing & Sales at Nissan Europe, expressed enthusiasm for the model’s launch stating, “NISMO is back in Europe! We are bringing this exciting brand back into our market with a new and refreshed model. As we push forward the electrification of our lineup, it’s essential that we continue to offer elite and exciting models to customers and NISMO enthusiasts as well.”

Notably, the European version of the Ariya NISMO might not see the same power increase as its Japanese counterpart. In the Japanese market, the most powerful Ariya NISMO delivers a 10% increase in output over the standard model.

As of now, the pricing details are yet to be announced but more information will be released later in the year. With the Nissan Ariya NISMO revealed along with its combination of sporty appearance and aerodynamic structure, the company plans to offer the Ariya NISMO in all European markets where the standard Ariya is currently available.

The full reveal of the European Ariya NISMO is scheduled to occur during the Formula E season finale in London, England from July 20 to July 21.
