With Up to $15,000 Off, These Bold Discounts Aim to Boost Sales and Attract New Customers to the Luxury EV Segment
Mercedes-Benz has initiated substantial price reductions across its 2025 electric vehicle (EV) lineup, signaling an aggressive strategy to reinvigorate consumer interest in its electric offerings amidst disappointing sales in 2024.
In detail, Mercedes-Benz’s new pricing strategy, detailed in a dealer bulletin distributed on February 3, focuses particularly on its high-end electric models. The most substantial reduction applies to the AMG EQS Sedan, which now carries a $15,000 discount from its $148,700 starting price, representing a 10% decrease.
The pricing adjustments extend across the entire electric range, with the AMG EQE Sedan receiving a $10,000 reduction and the AMG EQE SUV offering an $8,000 discount. Even the brand’s flagship EV, the Maybach EQS 680 SUV, has not been exempt, with a $10,500 reduction from its premium $179,900 starting price – equivalent to a 6% discount.
In the core luxury segment, Mercedes has implemented equally major reductions. The EQS 450 Sedan and EQS 580 Sedan both see $13,500 price cuts, translating to 12% and 11% reductions respectively from their original starting prices of $108,550 and $128,500. The EQS 580 SUV matches the Maybach’s dollar reduction at $10,500, though this represents a more substantial 8% discount given its lower initial price point.
These price adjustments are being implemented through an unadvertised dealer cash incentive program called the Mercedes Incentive Bonus. Industry observers note that this aggressive pricing strategy seems particularly unexpected for Mercedes-Benz, a brand historically known for high-end luxury vehicles that excel in qualities typically associated with EVs – namely quiet operation, comfort, and advanced technology.
While the company is offering additional discounts across other electric models, these represent the largest reductions currently available. For consumers who have been considering a Mercedes-Benz EV, these unprecedented discounts may present an attractive opportunity to enter the luxury EV market at a significantly reduced price point.
As Mercedes-Benz works to align its electric offerings with market demands while the luxury EV market is still developing, these substantial discounts may serve as a crucial test of how price-sensitive customers are when it comes to premium EVs.
