Lucid CEO Says 2025 Production Goal Still at 20,000 Vehicles

Lucid Motors is holding onto its internal goal of producing 20,000 vehicles in 2025, despite officially guiding Wall Street to a lower range of 18,000 to 20,000 units last month. 

Interim CEO Marc Winterhoff told investors at the Morgan Stanley Conference on Friday that the company’s workforce remains fully committed to the higher target.

Internal push toward 20,000 units

Winterhoff explained that while Lucid’s August guidance included a range, the company’s internal plan is still centered on hitting the 20,000-unit mark, according to EV.

“We recently put out a range when it comes to this year’s production numbers, 18 to 20,000, and all of our internal plan actually still shoots for 20,000. I just said, okay, let’s put in a range, because it’s very hard to hit exactly one number. That’s one thing. 

“And given all of it, let’s say the surprises that we had this year, I said, okay, let’s put it in the range. But I mean, it’s still in that range. And internally, we’re shooting for 20,000 and the team is giving everything to make that happen,” the interim CEO said.

Production history and upcoming Gravity SUV

Lucid produced 6,075 vehicles in the first half of 2025, meaning output will need to accelerate sharply in the second half to achieve the goal. Meeting the target would require nearly 14,000 vehicles built over the remaining months.

Lucid has steadily increased annual production since 2022, though results have consistently trailed early forecasts. After building 7,180 units in 2022, output rose to 8,428 in 2023 and 9,029 in 2024. Winterhoff reiterated that the Gravity SUV remains on track, with the base Touring trim scheduled to enter production at the company’s Arizona facility in late 2025.
