Lucid and European shared-mobility company Bolt are teaming up to deploy 25,000 fully autonomous Lucid vehicles across major European cities, marking a push toward commercial robotaxi operations in the region.
The vehicles will be based on Lucid’s upcoming Midsize platform and designed for SAE Level 4 autonomous driving, with Bolt planning to own and operate the fleet.
The partnership will center on a vehicle platform that Lucid and Bolt will co-develop for autonomous-driving systems. The vehicles are expected to use Nvidia’s Hyperion autonomous-vehicle architecture and will be designed for SAE Level 4 automation, allowing them to operate without human intervention within defined conditions and operating areas.
Bolt’s autonomous-driving division will help establish requirements covering the vehicles, software, safety systems and rider experience. The company will also develop the infrastructure and operating systems needed for the fleet while working with cities on deployment partnerships, according to Reuters.
Bolt plans to deploy the 25,000 Lucid vehicles as part of a larger strategy to build an autonomous fleet of 100,000 vehicles by 2035.
The companies also plan to work with autonomous-driving technology providers, European regulators and policymakers as they prepare for the rollout.

Lucid and Bolt are entering a European robotaxi market that is moving beyond small-scale pilot programs toward broader commercial operations.
Uber, Verne and Pony.ai launched robotaxi rides in Zagreb in August, while Alphabet-owned Waymo is testing autonomous vehicles in Munich ahead of a planned German launch in late 2027.
Lucid is pursuing another robotaxi program in the United States through a separate partnership with Uber and autonomous-driving company Nuro. Under that arrangement, Uber has committed to deploy at least 35,000 Lucid vehicles, including the Gravity SUV and models based on Lucid’s upcoming Midsize platform, starting this year.
For the European program, Bolt will take responsibility for operating the fleet while Lucid provides the vehicle platform. The partnership gives Lucid another potential high-volume application for its upcoming Midsize architecture as autonomous ride services expand into additional markets.
