Lucid Air was already leading the electric evolution, and recent upgrades have made it even more impressive.

Since the beginning of production in 2021 Lucid Air keeps shocking the EV world with outstanding range abilities, new level of luxury in electric world and astonishing acceleration of Air Sapphire which is faster than even a Tesla Model S Plaid rival. 2025 brought some new improvements to the Air lineup, let’s see what was changed and is Lucid Air a still competitive electric sedan with one of the longest range on market or it’s time to switch to other options.

When the Lucid Air launched in 2021, its specs stunned the EV world: the Dream Edition Range delivered a record-breaking 520 miles of EPA-estimated range, while the Dream Edition Performance hit 60 mph in just 2.6 seconds, making it one of the fastest EVs ever. Following this success, Lucid introduced a range of new trims with strong specs, competitive pricing, and a rapidly growing fan base. Let’s look back at the trims available throughout the history of the Air lineup:

With all Air trims covered, it’s time to find out what 2025 has in store: are the latest updates truly worth considering when picking the right model, or nothing major to worry about?
The most noticeable change received the base Pure trim: now its battery capacity reduced from previous 88.0 kWh to 84.0 kWh. However, don’t worry that it affected range somehow, on the contrary, it was improved… but just by one mile, and now Pure RWD trim reaches 420 miles of maximum EPA-estimated range. It is possible because of the weight reduction and 146 MPGe energy efficiency rating, one of the best in class.
Another important feature which was added to all of the trims is a heat pump. Finally, Air drivers will be able to save more energy while using climate controls or preconditioning the car before charging or driving. Also, this is one of the reasons why Lucid Air gained more range across several trims, as the heat pump helps conserve energy and prolong overall range.
Another improvement which would definitely make Lucid Air owners enjoy ownership more is the new control hardware with greater processing power. We hope that this update will help reduce system lagging and bugs, which in some cases were so serious that you couldn’t even drive your Lucid Air.
Along with complimentary scheduled maintenance plan that covers two years or 24,000 miles Lucid Air owners of 2025 Air will also receive new driver-assistance features such as blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and a 360-degree exterior camera system.
The updated Lucid Air is just one part of Lucid’s upcoming growth, even despite current challenges. Alongside the Air updates, we’re still waiting for new trims of the Gravity SUV and more affordable future models. However, coming back to the topic, we should admit that 2025 improvements aren’t as major as many expected — no new trims were added and overall changes are relatively minor. Still, the upgrades Lucid did bring are meaningful, and the Air is now more high-tech than ever, especially with the new heat pump, which is finally standard on all trims.
