Lotus has revealed its Emeya electric vehicle (EV) model with a revolutionizing fast charging achievement, where it reached a remarkable charging time from 10% to 80% in just 14 minutes using a 400-kW DC fast charger.

With Lotus reaching this new fast charging time, this marks its Emeya model as one of the fastest-charging EVs currently available in the EV industry. Moreover, the company attributes the Emeya’s fast-charging capabilities to its innovative cell-to-back battery structure. As a result, it allows for 20% more cells to be packed into the same space compared to conventional module architectures according to Lotus.

In addition, the Emeya model also features an innovative cooling system architecture that is designed to optimize battery thermal performance and efficiency, which increasingly improves its charging efficiency.

Notably, Lotus Emeya’s charging capability was rigorously validated by the renowned global consulting firm P3, which recently published its independent 2023 P3 Charging Index for Asia. In detail, it showed that the Emeya emerged as the top performer with a peak charging power of 402 kW and an average charging power of 331 kW between 10% and 80% battery state of charge, exceeding the Mercedes EQS, BMW i7, Tesla Model Y, and many others.

Furthermore, Lotus will be collaborating with Bosch and Mobilize, where Lotus owners can access over 700,000 public chargers across 30 European countries through Bosch’s charging network and offer an all-inclusive home charging package with Mobilize Power Solutions.

Qingfeng Feng, CEO of Lotus Group, expressed the advancement of the Emeya model stating, “With our industry-leading charging technology available today, Emeya pushes the boundaries for how an EV performs, providing drivers with the confidence to travel anywhere. We’re bringing an unrivaled driving experience in the ultimate grand tourer package, so drivers want to go electric.”

As Lotus aims to become an all-electric global performance company by 2028, the Emeya model is set to lead that charge. With deliveries of the Emeya underway in select markets, the EV market will see more Lotus EVs to come.
