The Kia EV3 Introduces Industry-First Features Including Smart Regenerative System 3.0 And i-Pedal 3.0

Kia has taken a big step forward in the electric vehicle (EV) market by introducing its new EV3. Unveiled earlier this year, the EV3 combines advanced EV technology with an elevated SUV experience.

At the heart of the EV3’s appeal is its exceptional 600 km (372 miles) driving range based on WLTP standard, powered by an 81.4 kWh battery. This fourth-generation battery delivers around 22% higher energy density compared to the Niro EV, positioning the EV3 as a leader in long-range electric mobility within its class.
Kia has introduced several world-first technologies in the EV3, enhancing the driving and ownership experience. According to Kia, the i-Pedal 3.0 technology takes one-pedal driving to new heights, offering drivers greater flexibility and control. This system separates the level of regenerative braking from the full stopping control function, allowing drivers to adapt to various driving conditions effortlessly.
Another stand-out feature is the Smart Regenerative System 3.0, making its debut in the EV3. This system integrates a wider variety of navigation-based data to act as a digital co-pilot, automatically adjusting speed based on road conditions and distance to other vehicles, promising to make city driving less stressful and more efficient.

As for its design, the EV3’s aerodynamic design plays a vital role in its efficiency, achieving a drag coefficient of just 0.26Cd. This sleek profile, combined with advanced thermal management systems, ensures optimal performance even in harsh conditions. The EV3 is the first in the world to deploy a simultaneous heat absorption system, recycling waste heat from both the vehicle and outside air to optimize efficiency.
Moreover, the EV3 features advanced HVAC technology that maintains consistent cabin conditions while improving charging efficiency. Under optimal conditions, the EV3 can charge from 10% to 80% in just 31 minutes due to its innovative heat pump and high-thermal-efficiency systems.

In addition, the Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology adds another dimension to the EV3’s versatility, allowing users to power external devices. As a result, this feature transforms the EV3 into a mobile power source.
“When we unveiled the EV3 in May, we showcased a vehicle that would make effortless, sustainable mobility more accessible,” a Kia spokesperson stated. “To deliver on that commitment, we’ve equipped our new compact all-electric SUV with industry-leading technology, a class-leading driving range, and fast-charging capability.”

With the Kia EV3 aimed to introduce all-wheel drive (AWD) and GT variants in the future, this strategy seeks to meet a broader range of buyer needs and preferences. Furthermore, Kia released pricing details of the model in the Untied kingdom and the Netherlands with the entry-level EV3 Air model starting at £32,995 (around $42,335) and Dutch pricing starts at €36,995 ($39,998) for the standard range.
