According to Karma, the collaboration with Intel seeks to address the limitations of traditional EV architecture, which has remained largely unchanged since the automobile’s invention in 1888. By leveraging Intel’s expertise in high-performance computing systems and Karma’s innovative approach to luxury EVs, aiming to create a more efficient, flexible, and cost-effective EV architecture.

Marques McCammon, President of Karma Automotive, expressed the significance of this collaboration stating, “Together with Intel Automotive, we will realize SDVA’s full potential to create innovative, intelligent, and beautiful Karma automobiles which will deliver unparalleled driving dynamics, high efficiency, and an exceptional ownership experience.”

The SDVA approach treats vehicle systems holistically, allowing for seamless movement of workloads between software-defined central “compute” systems and zonal sub-systems. This innovation aims to reduce the number of electronic control units (ECUs) in EVs, improve energy efficiency, and enhance overall performance. Notably, Karma plans to offer SDVA solutions to other manufacturers and suppliers, similar to its existing Karma Connect platform.

Jack Weast, Vice President of Intel Automotive, highlighted the timeliness of this partnership stating, “The industry is facing a perfect storm of unprecedented change. Intel has assisted other industries with such transformations in the past, and we’re honored to do the same in Automotive.”

Interestingly, the Karma Laveya will be one of the EVs the company will showcase at the Monterey Car Week. Alongside the showcasing of the Karma Laveya are the GT-UV Design Study Concept and the Karma Gyesera models.

As a result of this collaboration between Karma and Intel, it will represent a major step forward in EV technology that will deliver not only more powerful and luxurious EVs but also more efficient and technologically advanced ones.
