Hyundai has set plans to reveal its Staria minivan model in electric vehicle (EV) form in 2026. The Staria model will be launched specifically in the European market catering to a diverse demand.

The Staria minivan is a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) and has been part of Hyundai’s light commercial vehicle lineup since 2021 and its transition to being electrified will certainly adapt to the evolving automotive landscape as more automakers are switching their gas-powered vehicles to an EV counterpart. Furthermore, this move by Hyundai will align with the environmental regulations in the European market for EVs, especially with the impending Euro 7 emission standards set to roll out in July 2025 according to The Korea Economic Daily.

In detail, the Staria EV comes with a fourth-generation NCM battery pack that delivers improved efficiency and extended range. With an 84-kilowatt (kW) capacity, this advanced battery unit surpasses its predecessor, the ST1, by 10%. Moreover, a single charge will deliver up to 324 km (201 miles) of range along with fast charging capabilities from 10% to 80% in 20 minutes.

As for Hyundai production plans, the company will start production of the Staria EV in Europe by the first half of 2026 once the expansion of its battery installation line at the Ulsan Plant in South Korea is done according to The Korea Economic Daily. Hyundai will also plan to launch its Staria EV model in certain Asia-Pacific countries including Australia and Thailand with an aim for a sales target of 15,000 to 20,000 units annually.
