Goodyear’s ElectricDrive 2 Enhances Performance and Sustainable Materials

At CES 2024, Goodyear made waves with its latest innovative product designed for electric vehicles (EVs): the Goodyear ElectricDrive 2. The ElectricDrive 2 EV tire now comes designed to elevate your EV’s performance with sustainability in mind. 

This all-season EV tire is made to meet the evolving needs of EV owners searching for better EV tires to cater to their needs as Goodyear highlighted its importance through its conducted consumer research. One of the key factors that Goodyear inputs in its ElectricDrive 2 is the addition of SoundComfort Technology foam, which cuts down the interior vehicle. The EV tire also comes in an asymmetric tread pattern that allows assured handling in different environments from wet to dry roads. 

Made with sustainable materials, the ElectricDrive 2 also prioritizes the environment with innovative approaches. The EV tire is specifically produced with sustainable materials such as soybean oil, rice husk ash silica, and sustainably sourced natural rubber. 

In terms of performance, the ElectricDrive 2 has a long-lasting tread compound that allows you to extract more miles as EVs produce more wear and tear. In addition, the EV tire’s aerodynamic sidewall and innovative compound deliver lower drag and enhanced rolling resistance that also extends the range.

David Reese, Vice President of Product Development at Goodyear Americas, expressed the EV tire’s focus on performance and sustainability, stating, “The ElectricDrive 2 was designed with at least 50% sustainable materials, a focus on providing greater traction and maintaining a quiet ride.” 

With the ElectricDrive 2, EV tires are getting the same treatment of innovative advancements that other EV parts are getting. EV tires address the weight of an EV’s battery, the expansion to meet the needs of EV owners who need better EV tires are being met with innovative solutions from companies like Goodyear on EV tire demand.  

The ElectricDrive 2 will also be accessible to a wide range of EVs. This list includes Tesla Models Y, 3, and S to the Ford Mustang Mach-E, Chevy Bolt, Audi Q4 e-tron, and many more according to Goodyear. The ElectricDrive 2 will be available in May 2024 in 17 sizes.
