Buick has produced 150,000 vehicles under its Electra NEV sub-brand in China, marking a major production milestone roughly 16 months after the electrified lineup was relaunched in early 2025.
The 150,000th vehicle was a 2026 Buick Electra E7 plug-in hybrid, which also reached 30,000 units produced as the Electra portfolio continues expanding across several vehicle types and powertrains.
SAIC-GM announced the production milestone from its headquarters in Shanghai, where the primary manufacturing plant for Buick’s electrified model family is located.
The Electra sub-brand was relaunched as the core of Buick’s new-energy vehicle strategy, with its lineup built around the Xiao Yao super-architecture. The platform supports multiple body styles and new-energy powertrains, according to GM Authority.
The lineup initially consisted of the Electra L7 EREV, which launched in September 2025. Buick subsequently added the Electra Encasa PHEV and its battery-electric variant, followed by the Electra E7 PHEV and Electra L7 BEV.
The result is a three-nameplate portfolio covering sedans, SUVs and minivans, with battery-electric, plug-in hybrid and extended-range electric powertrains.

The 150,000th Electra vehicle was an Electra E7 PHEV. The crossover reached its own 30,000-unit production milestone at the same time, just months after its official launch in April.
The E7 has also become the best-selling model within the Electra lineup over the last two full months of sales in China, according to the source.
Buick’s Electra portfolio has an average transaction price of 257,000 yuan, or approximately $38,500, according to SAIC-GM. The company said the milestone reflects the lineup’s growing role in Buick’s product strategy in China and its planned international expansion with electrified vehicles.
