SAIC-GM has officially unveiled the all-new 2026 Buick Electra Encasa BEV in China, introducing the fully electric version of Buick’s flagship MPV under its Electra new-energy sub-brand.

The model will expand the Encasa lineup following the launch of its plug-in hybrid variant and is scheduled to go on sale in China in March.

Buick expands Electra lineup with full EV MPV

The 2026 Buick Electra Encasa BEV becomes the all-electric counterpart to the Encasa PHEV, which SAIC-GM says has led its price segment in China’s luxury MPV market.

“Today, Buick announced that the Pure Electric version of the Electra Encasa will be launched in March,” SAIC-GM said in a statement. “Following the Encasa plug-in hybrid version’s continued dominance as the top-selling luxury MPV its price range, the Pure Electric version will continue its positioning as a villa-level new energy flagship MPV.”

Visually, the BEV closely mirrors the PHEV variant, with subtle differences including unique wheels and a distinctive two-tone matte finish. The launch model debuts in an exclusive Matte Gray paint scheme, which SAIC-GM says required 112 robots for automated spraying and 12 coating processes to complete, according to GM Authority.

The company described it as the first model in its segment to adopt a standard two-tone matte finish using a high-end coating process.

Performance details point to 646 horsepower

While full technical specifications have yet to be released, SAIC-GM confirmed that the Encasa BEV will be GM’s most powerful dual-motor all-wheel-drive minivan to date.

The electric MPV is expected to deliver a combined output of 482 kW, equivalent to 646 horsepower. Additional powertrain and battery details were not disclosed at the time of unveiling.

The Electra Encasa BEV will be manufactured and sold exclusively in China, reinforcing the importance of the country in General Motors’ electrification strategy through its SAIC-GM joint venture.
