Foxconn Has Introduced The MODEL D, A Lifestyle Multipurpose Utility Vehicle, Along With The MODEL U, An Urban Electric Bus

Hon Hai Technology Group (Foxconn), widely known as the world’s largest technology manufacturer, has significantly expanded its electric vehicle (EV) lineup with the introduction of two new reference models at its fifth annual Hon Hai Tech Day (HHTD).
According to Hon Hai Technology Group, the centerpiece of Foxconn’s announcement is the MODEL D, a innovative vehicle that bridges the gap between SUV and MPV segments. Designed as a Lifestyle Multipurpose Utility Vehicle (LMUV), the MODEL D stretches 5.2 meters in length with a generous 3.2-meter wheelbase, offering substantial interior space for passengers and cargo.
The EV showcases Foxconn’s latest platform technology, featuring an advanced pneumatic suspension system that can adjust height by 15 to 25 millimeters to enhance driving stability. In collaboration with renowned Italian design house Pininfarina SpA, the MODEL D achieves an impressive 0.23 drag coefficient through specially designed S-ducts and air curtains.

Complementing the MODEL D is the new MODEL U, a midi-sized electric bus that builds upon the success of Foxconn’s award-winning MODEL T. Designed specifically for navigation through narrow urban lanes and remote areas, the MODEL U features a clean, simple design with large windows for improved visibility.
The bus emphasizes flexibility with its customizable internal configuration, while incorporating advanced ADAS and electronic control systems to ensure safety and comfort. Its aerodynamic design has been optimized to maximize range, making it particularly suitable for various urban mobility applications.

In a significant move toward international expansion, Foxconn also unveiled the North American variant of its MODEL C SUV. Set for mass production by late 2025, this adapted version features several market-specific enhancements, including an expanded S-duct, redesigned steering wheel, and a new user interface.
The MODEL C has already proven its capabilities in Taiwan, where it has become one of the best-selling passenger EVs under the “n7” brand through Luxconn’s partnership with Luxgen. The vehicle recently made history as the first EV to participate in the grueling 2,100 km Asia Cross Country Rally (AXCR).
“The latest models join a terrific line-up of EVs displaying our range and maturity in automotive development,” said Young Liu, Chairman of Hon Hai Technology Group. “The EVs going to market with our B2B customers are standing up to real tests in automotive endurance, safety and reliability.”
Through its subsidiary Foxtron Vehicle Technologies, Foxconn is leveraging its Contract Design and Manufacturing Service (CDMS) business model to offer automotive OEM customers flexible, customizable reference designs. This approach includes a modular platform architecture that allows for various hardware combinations and a software-defined EE architecture enabling continuous updates through software improvements.
The expansion of Foxconn’s EV portfolio marks a significant milestone in the company’s transformation from a pure electronics manufacturer to a major player in the global EV market. By offering solutions ranging from personal vehicles to public transportation options, Foxconn is positioning itself as a comprehensive electric mobility solution provider.
