Ford Unveils 2025 F-150 Lightning: Faster Charging, Smarter Features, and a Bold Stealth Edition

A significant enhancement for the 2025 model year is the increased maximum DC fast-charging current, now reaching 500 amps, up from 450 amps in the previous model. This improvement has the potential to slightly reduce charging times at compatible high-powered charging stations. Ford is also making charging more user-friendly with new software features. Drivers can now access real-time charging information, including charging speeds, directly through the vehicle’s interface. Furthermore, a universal charge limit can be set for all charging locations, and users can schedule specific charging times at preferred stations.

Connectivity also sees an upgrade, with all 2025 F-150 Lightning models now capable of finding Tesla Supercharger stations through Apple Maps EV Routing in CarPlay. This integration expands the charging options available to Lightning owners, leveraging Tesla’s extensive North American Charging Standard (NACS) network. Ford has already begun shipping free NACS adapters to existing EV owners and will offer a new Fast Charging NACS Adapter for purchase.

On the technology front, the 2025 F-150 Lightning features the latest iteration of Ford’s BlueCruise hands-free highway driving system, now in version 1.4. This updated system promises a smoother and more natural hands-free driving experience on compatible highways. Enhancements include improved speed adjustment in curves and greater in-lane stability, contributing to a more confident and relaxed driving experience.

For customers seeking a more distinctive look, Ford is introducing the “Dark Elements” appearance package, available on the Platinum series. This stealthy option includes 22-inch black-painted wheels, black Ford ovals and badging, and a black interior design theme. The new White Space exterior paint option showcased with the “Dark Elements” package highlights these design elements, catering to the popularity of white trucks among Lightning owners.

Despite these updates, Ford has maintained the pricing structure for the 2025 F-150 Lightning, with the XLT starting at $62,995 and the Platinum edition reaching $84,995. The lineup also includes the Flash model, positioned with a starting price of $67,995 and an EPA-estimated range of 320 miles. Through its Ford Power Promise program, new EV buyers will also receive a free Level 2 home charger and other benefits.
