Ford’s upcoming Fathom electric pickup could be unveiled within the next few months, with a member of the automaker’s Universal Electric Vehicle team saying the model will be revealed in early 2027.
The midsize pickup is scheduled to enter production later next year, while Ford plans to open pre-orders in January, giving customers their first official look at the new EV soon.
Riley, a member of Ford’s UEV team, recently said during a Reddit question-and-answer session that the Fathom will be revealed “early next year.”
The timing lines up with Ford’s previously announced development schedule. The automaker expects to begin building Fathom prototypes using production-qualified parts during the first quarter of 2027, with customer vehicles following later in the year, according to Ford Authority.
Ford has also said that pre-orders will open in early 2027. A more specific January timeframe was previously provided, meaning the Fathom’s reveal and the opening of its order books could happen around the same time.
The Fathom will start at $29,945, including the destination fee, making it one of Ford’s most affordable upcoming EVs.

Ford is targeting approximately 300 miles (483 kilometers) of range for the Fathom, although the source notes that this figure is likely associated with an extended-range battery rather than the standard-range version. Ford has not confirmed that distinction.
The company has also said the electric pickup will be as fast as a Mustang EcoBoost and provide more passenger space than the latest Toyota RAV4, while offering both a front trunk and a pickup bed.
The Fathom will feature intelligent EV routing with battery preconditioning and built-in Apple Maps. Some Apple Maps navigation functions will be available without an additional charge, while Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will also be supported.
Ford plans to use road-level Apple Maps information as part of the development of its next-generation BlueCruise hands-free highway driving system.
Production of the Fathom is scheduled to take place at Ford’s Louisville Assembly plant in Kentucky in 2027.
