Fiat has pulled the wraps off its latest electric vehicle (EV) model, the funky and eye-catching new Grande Panda EV. As the first model in Fiat’s ambitious new global EV lineup, the Grande Panda aims to bring Italian flair and personality to affordable electric mobility worldwide.

When it comes to design, the Fiat Grande Panda draws inspiration from the iconic original Panda from the 1980s. The Grande Panda sports a distinctly retro and rugged design. Its wedge-shaped bodywork, pronounced wheel arches, and dynamic curves give it a robust, playful presence while driving on the road. Moreover, the pixel-style headlights arranged in a chessboard pattern and giant “Panda” lettering along the sides will grab much attention. Also, the rear features the Panda name molded into the hatch in 3D bas-relief style.

Notably, the compact Fiat Grande Panda measures just 3.99 meters (157.1 inches) long, making it smaller than average for B-segment vehicles. However, Fiat has stated that there will be ample interior space for five passengers due to smart packaging inherited from its 500 family.

As for its specs, not much is disclosed except that the Grande Panda rides on Stellantis’ new Smart Car platform. It will be available with a choice of electric or hybrid powertrains, though as aforementioned Fiat is keeping specific details under wraps for now.

Despite Fiat plans to launch a new model every year through 2027 as it transitions to a global manufacturing strategy, the new Grande Panda will not be sold in North America initially. Although following the recently launched 500e, the Grande Panda strengthens Fiat’s electric lineup in other global markets.

Olivier Francois, FIAT CEO and Stellantis Global CMO, expressed enthusiasm on the Grande Panda’s reveal stating, “With the Grande Panda, FIAT now begins its transition to global common platforms that cover all regions of the world, passing on the resulting benefits to its customers worldwide. In fact, the Grande Panda is perfectly suited for families and urban mobility in every country… a real FIAT!”

With pricing not announced yet, the Grande Panda EV is expected to provide an affordable, sustainable option for families when it arrives in Europe, the Middle East and Africa starting later this year. With eye-catching retro styling and Fiat’s characteristic personality, the Grande Panda could be the fun and funky spark to ignite EV sales for Fiat worldwide.
