BYD’s premium Denza brand has opened pre-sales for the all-electric Denza Z in China, marking the company’s latest push into the high-performance EV segment.
The two-door electric supercar starts at 680,000 yuan (about $100,300) in China, significantly lower than its starting price of 142,900 pounds (about $191,400) in the UK, where it made its global debut earlier this month.
The Denza Z will be offered in three configurations when it officially launches in China during the fourth quarter.
The Coupe starts at 680,000 yuan, while the Spider convertible is priced at 780,000 yuan. At the top of the range, the track-focused Racing version carries a pre-sales price of 1.18 million yuan, according to CNEV Post.
The pricing places the Denza Z well below its UK counterpart, where the Coupe starts at 142,900 pounds. The Spider and Racing models are priced at 159,900 pounds and 172,900 pounds, respectively.
Designed under the direction of veteran automotive designer Wolfgang Egger, whose previous work includes the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione, the Denza Z features a low-slung body, extensive aerodynamic enhancements, and a carbon-fiber composite structure. The hardtop model includes a carbon-fiber roof and active rear spoiler, while the Racing version adds a fixed rear wing and more aggressive aerodynamic components.
Inside, the cabin combines a digital instrument cluster with a floating infotainment display while retaining physical controls for key functions such as driving modes and rear spoiler adjustments. A dedicated track interface provides real-time performance data including motor output, battery temperature, G-forces, and torque.

Performance is the centerpiece of the Denza Z. All versions use a tri-motor all-wheel-drive system consisting of one front motor and two independently controlled rear motors, producing a combined 1,180 kW, or 1,582 horsepower.
The Racing variant accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 1.96 seconds and reaches a top speed of 350 km/h. The Coupe completes the same sprint in 2.25 seconds, while the Spider follows closely at 2.3 seconds. Both road-going models have a top speed of 300 km/h.
The Denza Z is also the first production vehicle to feature BYD’s new e3 technology, which enables independent control of all three motors and rear-wheel steering. It also debuts the company’s fully in-house steer-by-wire system, eliminating the traditional mechanical connection between the steering wheel and the front wheels.
Additional technology includes BYD’s DiSus-M adaptive suspension, the latest God’s Eye 5.0 driver-assistance system, an 800-volt charging architecture, and a 102-kWh lithium iron phosphate Blade Battery for the Chinese market.
More than just a halo car, the Denza Z represents BYD’s effort to strengthen the Denza brand by showcasing the company’s latest advances in electric performance, intelligent chassis control, and vehicle software as competition intensifies in China’s premium EV market.
