Chevrolet has announced significant updates to its Silverado electric vehicle (EV) lineup for the 2025 model year, setting new benchmarks in range, affordability, and versatility.
According to Chevrolet, the headline feature of the 2025 Silverado EV is its groundbreaking range. The Work Truck (WT) edition with the Max Range battery pack boasts an EPA-estimated range of up to 492 miles, setting a new standard for electric trucks. This represents a substantial increase from the 2024 model’s already exceptional 450-mile range.
Scott Bell, vice president of Chevrolet, expressed the importance of this achievement stating, “Truck customers tell us range is one of the main barriers to considering an EV. The 2024 Silverado EV already was the range leader, and for this new model year we’ve set the bar even higher.”
Chevrolet is expanding the Silverado EV lineup to provide more options and address pricing concerns. For the 2025 model year, the Silverado EV will be available in three distinct trims.
For the Work Truck (WT), it offers two range options. The Standard Range starts at $57,095, with the range details to be announced later. The Extended Range option provides an impressive 422 miles and is priced at $69,495. For those seeking maximum distance, the Max Range version offers 492 miles, starting at $77,795.
As for the new LT trim, it introduces the Extended Range option, which offers 408 miles and starts at $75,195. Additionally, there is an Extended Range version available with the LT Premium Package, which has a range of 390 miles and is priced at $81,995.
The RST trim also offers two configurations. The Extended Range version provides 390 miles and starts at $89,395. For enhanced performance, the Max Range option is estimated by GM to achieve 460 miles and is priced at $97,895. This expansion of trim levels and pricing aims to cater to a broader range of customers and meet diverse needs within the electric truck market.
The introduction of the LT trim is a significant addition to the Silverado EV lineup. This new option offers a balance of features and affordability, with both the standard LT and the LT Premium Package potentially qualifying for the full $7,500 federal tax credit for eligible customers.
Key features of the LT trim include a 300 kW DC public fast charging capability, 18-inch aluminum wheels (with 22-inch wheels available later), and a 17.7-inch center infotainment screen and 11.3-inch driver information center. Moreover, the LT trim delivers a 12,500 lb towing capacity and 1,800 lb payload with up to 765 lb-ft of torque and 645 horsepower with Wide Open Watts mode.
Moreover, the Premium Package adds features like the Multi-Flex Midgate, Super Cruise driver assistance system, and 22-inch machined-face aluminum wheels.
Chevrolet expects to begin shipping the 2025 Silverado EV WT, LT, and RST trims to customers before the end of 2024. The Work Truck with the standard range battery pack will join the lineup later in the model year.
Furthermore, all Silverado EV models will be assembled at GM’s Factory ZERO Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly Center in Michigan, using domestically and globally-sourced parts.
The 2025 Chevrolet Silverado EV’s impressive range and expanded trim options are set to make a significant impact on the electric truck market. By addressing key concerns such as range anxiety and affordability, Chevrolet is positioning the Silverado EV as a strong competitor in the growing EV market.
