BYD ATTO 2 Launches In February 2025, Featuring Advanced Battery Tech And Practical Design For The B-Segment SUV Market
BYD has unveiled its latest offering for the European electric vehicle (EV) market: the ATTO 2, a compact electric SUV that promises to make urban electric mobility more accessible.
From its European debut at the 2025 Brussels Motor Show, the ATTO 2 represents BYD’s strategic move to capture the popular B-segment SUV market with an affordable yet feature-rich EV. The ATTO 2, which is a rebranded version of the Yuan Up that launched in China in February 2024, builds upon BYD’s growing presence in Europe, where the company already offers seven electric models.
In the United Kingdom (UK) market, where BYD currently sells four models, the ATTO 2 is positioned to fill a crucial price point between the entry-level Dolphin and the larger ATTO 3, with pricing expected to fall between £26,140 (around $31,923) and £37,140 (around $45,357).
Particularly, the ATTO 2 incorporates BYD’s advanced battery technology and features the company’s innovative Blade Battery system with Cell-to-Body (CTB) construction, making it the first compact SUV in BYD’s lineup to utilize this space-optimizing design. The battery technology, which uses cobalt- and nickel-free lithium iron phosphate (LFP), is integrated directly into the vehicle’s chassis, enhancing both structural rigidity and safety while eliminating the need for traditional module housing.
At launch, the ATTO 2 will offer a 45.1 kWh Blade Battery providing a WLTP-rated range of 312 km (194 miles), with BYD announcing plans to introduce a longer-range version in the coming months. This initial range positions the vehicle competitively in the urban mobility segment, where daily driving distances are typically shorter.
Despite its compact footprint—measuring 4,310mm in length, 145mm shorter than its ATTO 3 sibling—the vehicle maintains impressive practicality. The interior features a flat EV-specific floor and can accommodate up to 1,430 liters of cargo space with the rear seats folded down. The standard trunk capacity of 400 liters expands to 1,340 liters, providing significant versatility for urban users.
The ATTO 2’s design incorporates modern elements such as full-LED headlights, a sleek front grille, and a dynamic floating roofline. Premium features include a panoramic glass roof and advanced smart technology systems, demonstrating BYD’s commitment to offering high-end features in a more accessible package.
BYD Executive Vice President Stella Li emphasized the strategic importance of the ATTO 2, stating, “The B-segment SUV class is incredibly popular here, and with the ATTO 2, we have an agile and versatile offering that will appeal to that large potential customer base.”
Sales of the ATTO 2 are scheduled to begin in February 2025, marking another significant step in BYD’s European expansion strategy. As European consumers are increasingly looking for affordable EV that do not compromise on features or technology, BYD’s latest offering of the ATTO 2 appears well-positioned to meet this growing demand.
