As BYD has been leading the global electric vehicle (EV) market, the company has launched its updated 2025 Dolphin model, maintaining its competitive pricing while offering improved range and performance.

The 2025 BYD Dolphin, unveiled merely six months after the launch of the Dolphin Glory Edition model, continues to be offered in four trims: Vitality, Free, Fashion, and Knight. These prices remain unchanged starting at 99,800 yuan ($13,730) for the base model and topping out at 129,800 yuan ($17,850) for the high-end Knight edition.

Notably, BYD has immensely improved the Dolphin’s range capabilities. The three lower-priced trims now arrive with a 44.928 kWh BYD Blade battery that delivers a CLTC range of up to 420 km (261 miles). This notes a considerable increase from the previous base model’s 302 km (187 miles) range with a 32 kWh battery.

Regarding the top-tier Knight trim, it comes with the most surprising improvement with a larger 60.48 kWh battery that delivers a CLTC range of 520 km (323 miles). This model also receives a power boost with its electric motor now producing 150 kW of peak power and 310 Nm of torque, up from 130 kW in the previous edition.

In terms of the middle trims, the Free trim is priced at 112,800 yuan ($15,700) and the Fashion trim at 119,800 yuan ($16,700). Both trims feature a 45 kWh battery providing a range of 420 km (261 miles).

As for the exterior, the 2025 BYD Dolphin maintains its compact dimensions at 4,125 mm long, 1,770 mm wide, and 1,570 mm tall. For the interior, it retains features including the DiLink intelligent network connection and a 12.8-inch rotating infotainment screen.

The launch of the 2025 Dolphin model coincides with a major milestone for BYD, as the 700,000th Dolphin rolled off the assembly line. This achievement underlines the model’s popularity since its initial release in August 2021 as the first EV on BYD’s e-Platform 3.0 and the inaugural model in its Ocean lineup.

As a result, the rapid update cycle of the Dolphin with this new year model arriving less than six months after the last refresh, demonstrates BYD’s pace in responding to market demands and leveraging its vertically integrated supply chain.

Moreover, BYD global efforts is noted as it opens its first plant in Thailand and recently signing a deal for another in Turkey, which results in the company positioning itself to the top in the EV market.

With the launch of the 2025 BYD Dolphin, its improved specifications at unchanged prices reaffirms the company’s dedication to making EVs more accessible to a broader buyer base while pushing the boundaries of EV technology and performance.
