BYD Launches Updated Seal 07 DM-i With New Tech And Lower Prices

BYD has unveiled the 2026 model year Seal 07 DM-i hybrid sedan, introducing significant updates to its range, dimensions, and driver assistance systems while cutting prices to boost competitiveness.

The refreshed lineup, revealed at a launch event, now starts at RMB 149,800 ($21,040) and features four variants with longer battery-only ranges, enhanced powertrains, and BYD’s latest chassis and driver-assist technologies.

Expanded specs and performance upgrades

The updated Seal 07 DM-i comes in four trims offering 135-km and 230-km electric ranges, priced from RMB 149,800 to RMB 186,800. Powertrain upgrades include a 1.5L engine with 74 kW output paired with a 160 kW front motor in the entry model, while higher trims use a 1.5T engine producing 115 kW with a 200 kW motor, enabling 0–100 km/h acceleration in 6.9 seconds.

Battery options range from 17.6 kWh to 29.46 kWh packs, providing more efficiency across the lineup. The sedan also grows slightly in size, now measuring 4,995 mm long and 1,900 mm wide, adding presence in the mid-to-large segment, according to CNEV Post.

New driver-assist and market positioning

BYD equipped the three lower-priced trims with its “God’s Eye C” DiPilot 100 driver-assistance system, while the top variant gains LiDAR through the advanced DiPilot 300 platform. The DiSus-C chassis control system is also integrated across most trims for improved ride stability. As BYD’s first mid-to-large sedan with fifth-generation DM technology, the Seal 07 DM-i delivers lower fuel consumption alongside improved EV performance.

The adjustments come as BYD sold 373,626 new energy vehicles in August, a slight year-on-year increase but a stronger 8.52 percent rise from July. The Seal family recorded 53,992 sales, climbing 15.24 percent from the prior month to become BYD’s second-best-selling series, signaling strong momentum for the refreshed model.
