2026 Chevy Silverado EV Gets $500 Price Bump From Higher Freight Charge

The 2026 Chevy Silverado EV became more expensive despite unchanged base MSRPs, after General Motors increased the electric pickup’s destination freight charge by $500. The higher fee applied across the lineup, raising final transaction prices for all trims even as Chevrolet introduced new variants and made only modest equipment and styling updates for the 2026 model year.

Freight charge increase raised final prices across the lineup

According to GM Authority, the destination freight charge (DFC) for the Chevy Silverado EV rose from $2,095 to $2,595 for the 2026 model year. While base MSRPs remained unchanged, the higher DFC resulted in a flat $500 increase to the final price of every trim, regardless of configuration.

With the updated freight charge included, pricing for the 2026 Silverado EV started at $55,395 for the 4WT Standard Range, rising to $58,490 when equipped with the Custom Package. The 5WT Extended Range carried a price of $68,795, while the 8WT Max Range topped the WT lineup at $76,795.

The LT trims started at $63,495 for the Standard Range, increased to $71,695 for the Extended Range, and climbed to $92,795 for the LT Max Range. Chevrolet also added the off-road-focused Trail Boss variant for 2026, priced at $72,595 in Extended Range form and $89,195 with the Max Range battery.

Trail Boss addition and production details

The Trail Boss marked one of the most notable additions for the 2026 model year, expanding the Silverado EV lineup with a more rugged, off-road-oriented option. Chevrolet had not yet released pricing for the Silverado EV Stars & Steel Special Edition, which was tied to the automaker’s broader Stars & Steel Collection commemorating the United States’ 250th anniversary. That package was exclusive to the Silverado EV RST trim, which returned specifically for the special-edition configuration after being discontinued for 2026.

Production of the 2026 Silverado EV took place at GM Factory Zero in Detroit. The truck rode on General Motors’ BT1 platform, which also underpinned several large electric trucks and SUVs across the company’s lineup.
