2025 Volkswagen ID.7 Delays Comes With Concerns From Its U.S. Dealers

Volkswagen’s 2025 ID.7 electric vehicle (EV) model is facing delays in its United States (U.S.) and Canada launch in the coming months, and questions are being raised about its competitiveness in the market with its indefinite postponement period from many dealers. 

As of now, Volkswagen’s ID.7 model was first launched in Europe last August with a starting price of 56,995 euros (around $62,000). With the launch delay in the North American market, many dealers have voiced concerns notably John Luciano, a member of the Volkswagen National Dealer Advisory Council and owner of Street Volkswagen in Texas, whohas raised cautionary flags about the model’s potential success in the US market during a meeting with the company according to Automotive News.

In the meeting, Luciano expressed concerns regarding the ID.7’s pricing and competitiveness stating, “We didn’t know an exact pricing, but [it’s] definitely a $50,000 to $60,000 car, without incentives. Is there any chance of it being competitive? And we felt like [it’s] not.” 

The reason for the delay of the ID.7 model was due to continuously shifting market dynamics. Also, the response to the delays comes with concerns about buyer demand for expensive EV sedans as there are now doubts about its appeal to American consumers. Nevertheless, Volkswagen is still on track to launch its 2025 ID.Buzz model in the U.S. market withits scheduled release not announced yet as well as pricing. 

As the U.S. and Canadian market awaits the arrival of Volkswagen’s ID.7, hopes for shifting market dynamics ease off as the anticipation for the model remains optimistic. Nonetheless, Volkswagen’s acknowledgment upon careful consideration and strategic planning to ensure the ID.7’s success in the competitive EV market.
