The production version of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra is currently challenging the Nürburgring race track in Germany. This move, combined with Xiaomi becoming a new premium partner for the world-famous track, underscores the Chinese tech giant’s growing presence in the electric vehicle (EV) sector.

Nürburgring Challenge

Xiaomi founder, chairman, and CEO Lei Jun announced on Weibo that the SU7 Ultra production model is tackling the Nürburgring, following its prototype’s record-breaking lap of 6:46.874 last October. At the time, the SU7 Ultra prototype became the fastest four-door car on the circuit. The executive, in a post on X, urged his followers to tune in for updates on the production SU7 Ultra’s Nürburgring challenge.

The SU7 Ultra was launched in February with a starting price of RMB 529,900 ($73,130), making it a steal for the performance that it offers. According to Xiaomi on its official website, the SU7 Ultra features a maximum horsepower of 1548PS and a maximum acceleration from 0 to 100km/h in just 1.98 seconds without one-foot rollout. That’s hypercar performance for the price of a premium sedan.

Official Nürburgring Premium Partner

Apart from Xiaomi’s announcement of the SU7 Ultra’s Nürburgring challenge, the company also became the race track’s official premium partner. According to a CNEV Post report, Xiaomi has agreed on a partnership deal with the Nürburgring, which should result in several sections of the race track featuring advertisements for the tech giant. These installations include the new Xiaomi Curve on the Grand Prix circuit and an advertisement on the actual Nordschleife.

Nürburgring CEO Christian Stephani explained the deal on the race track’s official website. “We are delighted that Xiaomi, a strong brand from Asia, is using the Nürburgring as an important development and communication platform. Xiaomi has recognized that the Nürburgring, and the Nordschleife in particular, is exactly the right place to advance new technologies and innovations, including in the field of electric mobility,” he said.
