Xiaomi EV is rumored to be preparing a refreshed version of its SU7 electric sedan for launch in the second quarter of 2026, complete with a notable price increase. The update would mark the first major refresh of Xiaomi’s debut EV and could reposition the SU7 directly against the Tesla Model 3 as the brand recalibrates its lineup following shifting delivery trends in China.

Facelifted SU7 could close the pricing gap with Tesla Model 3

According to prominent Chinese automotive blogger Han Lu, the next-generation Xiaomi SU7 will debut with “numerous upgrades” alongside a price hike of RMB 20,000, or roughly $2,840. If accurate, the move would significantly narrow the gap between the SU7 and Tesla’s Model 3, placing both vehicles at nearly identical starting prices.

Xiaomi officially launched the SU7 in March 2024, positioning the electric sedan as a value-focused alternative to Tesla’s popular Model 3. The current SU7 starts at RMB 215,900, undercutting the Model 3’s RMB 235,500 base price by nearly RMB 20,000. A facelifted model with a higher sticker would represent a strategic shift, signaling Xiaomi’s growing confidence in the SU7 brand as competition in China’s EV market intensifies, according to CNEV Post.

SU7 deliveries slide as the Xiaomi YU7 gains momentum

Despite a strong start in 2025, SU7 deliveries have slowed notably in recent months. The electric sedan reached a record monthly high of 29,244 units in March, but volumes declined after Xiaomi launched the YU7 SUV in late June. In November, SU7 deliveries fell to 12,520 units, representing a 45.93 percent year-on-year drop and a 16.49 percent decline from October.

In contrast, the YU7 has quickly become Xiaomi EV’s volume driver. The SUV posted record deliveries of 33,729 units in November, edging up 0.20 percent month over month as consumer demand shifted toward larger vehicles.

Looking ahead, Xiaomi EV is reportedly planning an aggressive expansion of its lineup, including the YU9 large SUV, the YU7 GT performance-oriented SUV, and the SU7 L luxury sedan. The YU9 is expected to be Xiaomi’s first extended-range electric vehicle, while the SU7 L and YU7 GT aim to move the brand further upmarket.
