Xiaomi’s electric vehicle unit delivered more than 39,000 vehicles in January, according to the company, as sales shifted toward its YU7 crossover SUV while the SU7 sedan approaches a model refresh. The result followed a record December but reflected a seasonal slowdown and limited availability of the outgoing SU7.

Xiaomi EV deliveries shift toward YU7 crossover SUV

Xiaomi said its EV division delivered “over 39,000 units” in January, based on a post shared on Weibo. While Xiaomi did not disclose an exact figure, the phrasing typically indicates deliveries between 39,000 and 40,000 vehicles, down from a record 50,212 units delivered in December.

According to Xiaomi founder and CEO Lei Jun, January deliveries were dominated by the YU7 crossover SUV as the SU7 electric sedan prepares for a facelift. Lei said only a limited number of YU7 display vehicles and stock units remain available, with customers who order now expected to receive delivery before China’s Spring Festival holiday, which runs from February 15 to 23, according to CNEV Post.

The updated SU7 was revealed earlier this month, a timing that may have weighed on January deliveries as buyers wait for the refreshed model. Early 2026 also marks a traditional slow period for China’s auto market, compounded by reduced policy support for EV purchases.

Updated SU7 launches as pricing and incentives shift

Xiaomi began pre-sales for the refreshed SU7 on January 7, with a starting price of RMB 229,900 (about $33,070), representing a roughly 6.5% increase over the previous generation. The new SU7 offers a range of up to 902 kilometers and includes LiDAR as standard across all variants.

To support demand for the YU7, Xiaomi introduced a seven-year low-interest financing incentive across the SUV lineup on January 15. Lei said the move was a direct response to similar pricing and financing actions from Tesla in China.

Xiaomi EV’s January results highlight how quickly its sales mix can shift as new models and updates roll out. More precise delivery figures are expected later this month when data from the China Passenger Car Association is released.
