Volvo has announced the pricing for its 2025 electric vehicle (EV) lineup in the United States (U.S.), marking a significant expansion of its electric offerings in the American market. The announcement centers on two key models: the compact EX30 and the flagship three-row EX90 SUV.

The EX30, which has already achieved remarkable success in Europe with nearly 100,000 units sold in 2023, will arrive in the U.S. market with the Twin Motor Performance variant. This model, starting at $44,900, represents a shift from the initially announced $34,950 base price in 2023. The price adjustment comes in the wake of new tariffs on Chinese-made vehicles, which prompted Volvo to relocate EX30 production to Belgium for U.S.-bound models.

The compact SUV offers special performance specifications, becoming the quickest-accelerating Volvo ever produced with a 0 to 60 mph time of just 3.4 seconds, thanks to its 422 horsepower powertrain. The EX30 provides a range of 253 miles and can fast-charge from 10 to 80 percent in approximately 25 minutes using its 153 kW charging capability. Customers can upgrade to the Ultra trim level for an additional $1,700, which includes enhanced features such as Park Pilot Assist and a 360-degree camera system.

At the other end of the spectrum, Volvo’s first three-row electric SUV, the EX90, will start at $79,995. All US-market EX90s will be manufactured at Volvo’s South Carolina facility, demonstrating the company’s commitment to American production. The EX90 boasts impressive dimensions at 68.7 inches tall, 77.3 inches wide, and 198.3 inches long. Equipped with a substantial 111 kWh battery pack, the EX90 offers up to 310 miles of range and can charge from 10 to 80 percent in around 30 minutes.

In a move to streamline its EV branding, Volvo has renamed the XC40 Recharge to EX40, aligning it with the new EX30 and EX90 nomenclature. The 2025 EX40 will start at $52,500 for the single-motor variant, while the Twin Motor AWD version, now featuring an upgraded 82 kWh battery (increased from 78 kWh), begins at $54,250.

Volvo’s Electrification Push in the U.S.

These pricing announcements reflect Volvo’s broader strategy toward electrification, offering customers a range of options from compact to full-size luxury SUVs. The company’s commitment to electrification has already shown promising results in Europe, where Volvo experienced a 28.4% sales growth in 2023, the highest among major manufacturers.

As a result, this comprehensive EV lineup with its pricing demonstrates Volvo’s aim in the U.S. market to maintain its reputation for safety, quality, and Scandinavian design while transitioning to an all-electric future.
