Voltpost, an electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure company, has revealed its new invention, the lamppost EV charger. These lamppost EV chargers will head to major urban cities including New York, Chicago, and Detroit.

Compared to common curbside charging stations that need extensive construction and long permitting processes, Voltpost has a solution to leverage the existing infrastructure in urban cities by retrofitting these lamppost EV chargers with an upgradable Level 2 charging platform. As a result, this solution assists in reducing installation time and costs as well as minimizing environmental footprint.

The lamppost EV chargers are created to make the lives of EV users more convenient and accessible to an EV charger. Each installation of the lamppost EV charger features a retractable cable management system with 20 feet of cable. Moreover, the lamppost EV chargers can accommodate 2 to 4 EVs simultaneously while being safe according to EV charging infrastructure standards.

One essential factor of Voltpost’s solution of lamppost EV chargers is its integration with its mobile app, which gives EV users the navigation to locate these chargers, reserve charging times, and observe their sessions. This user experience system is done to make EV charging easier for EV users in urban cities, especially the ones who do not have a dedicated parking space.

Co-Founder and CEO of Voltpost Jeff Prosserman emphasized the company’s commitment to decarbonizing urban mobility and building sustainable communities, stating “Voltpost is striving to make EV chargers as common as the traditional lamppost. We are empowering people with convenient and affordable charging access that fits into the fabric of the built environment.”

With Voltpost’s projects underway in major urban cities and a recent seed funding round of $3.6 million, the company is providing a modern and innovative solution that supports the transition to electric mobility for all in a convenient and accessible fashion.
