The ID. UNYX Features AI Onboard Assistant With Two Trims Up To An Estimated 621 KM Range And Up To 340 Horsepower

Volkswagen Anhui, a joint venture majority-owned by Volkswagen, unveiled its latest electric vehicle (EV) model, the ID. UNYX. This new model, the first from Volkswagen’s new sub-brand exclusively for China, represents a new step in the company’s ‘In China, for China’ strategy.
The ID. UNYX, an electric SUV coupé, comes with a progressive design and advanced features tailored to young, lifestyle-oriented buyers in China’s metropolitan areas according to Volkswagen. Notably, it is the first Volkswagen model to incorporate an AI-supported, personalizable 3D avatar as an onboard assistant.
Stefan Mecha, CEO of Volkswagen Brand China, emphasized the EV’s importance stating, “With the new ID. UNYX, we are expanding the spectrum of our electric ID. models in China with an avant-garde product. We are combining a confident, progressive design with a sustainable electric drive and state-of-the-art user experience.”
In terms of its specs, the entry-level trim of the ID. UNYX features a 210 kW (286 horsepower) electric motor on the rear axle, powered by a 77 kWh battery. It delivers an estimated range of up to 621 km (385 miles) according to the CLTC standard. An all-wheel-drive (AWD) trim with 250 kW (340 horsepower) will also be available.
As for its design, the ID. UNYX arrives with its gold-colored Volkswagen badge and vehicle lettering, LED matrix headlights, and a distinctive rear design featuring 3D LED taillights. The EV model’s silhouette is characterized by a sharp character line rising toward the rear, displaying its sporty coupé fashion. As Volkswagen voices it as an avant-garde design, the ID. UNYX certainly stands out just for its appearance itself.
The launch of the ID. UNYX is part of Volkswagen’s EV strategy for the Chinese market, where it plans to present four more ID. UNYX models by 2026, including SUVs and sedans. Moreover, this expansion in the lineup is a key factor of Volkswagen’s plan for the Chinese market, which aims to introduce a total of 34 new models by 2030.
Furthermore, Volkswagen’s goal for the Chinese market is further evidenced by its new innovation and development center in Hefei, eastern China, where the ID. UNYX was developed. The EV is also produced at one of Volkswagen Group’s EV plants in Hefei.
Notably, Volkswagen is introducing a unique retail concept with 40 exclusive stores planned in 20 Chinese cities to support the launch of the ID. UNYX. These stores will also provide immersive experiences utilizing virtual and augmented reality technologies.
As Volkswagen continues to strengthen its position in the Chinese EV market, the ID. UNYX will contribute in the company’s EV strategy and its efforts to cater to the evolving preferences of Chinese buyers.
