VinFast has announced the formation of a Dealer Advisory Board in the United States (U.S.) with its electric vehicle (EV) expansion strategy. The board, comprised of five leading dealership representatives from across the country, aims to improve communication between VinFast and its growing network of 25 dealerships.

The inaugural meeting of the Dealer Advisory Board occurred on July 17, 2024, at VinFast’s U.S. headquarters in Los Angeles, California. Board members collaborated with VinFast leadership to discuss critical topics including dealership sales and service best practices, warranty program optimization, future product planning, market trends, and competitive sales program development according to VinFast.

David Duncan, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at VinFast Auto, expressed enthusiasm about the board’s formation, stating, “Their experience and dedication are invaluable assets as we continue to expand our presence in the U.S. market.”

Currently, VinFast’s board members include David Coyle from Leith VinFast in Raleigh, North Carolina; David Sansing from Sandy Sansing VinFast in Pensacola, Florida; Elie Hanna from Hannah VinFast in Bradenton, Florida; Damian Mills from VinFast Triad in Greensboro, North Carolina; and Bill Auffenberg from VinFast Katy in Katy, Texas.

As VinFast is seeking to grow its U.S. presence, the establishment of this advisory board arrives at a crucial time. The company launched its VF8 model in March 2023, initially with direct-to-consumer sales in California before expanding to a dealer model in other states. While VinFast aims to have at least 125 stores by the end of 2024, sales have been modest with U.S. registration data showing 1,478 registrations from January to May 2024.

Despite these challenges, VinFast remains committed to its U.S. expansion. However, the company recently announced the postponement of its plans to build a $4 billion factory in North Carolina until 2028, pushing back the original 2025 production start date for the VF8 and other models.

With the newly formed Dealer Advisory Board expected to shape VinFast’s strategies, the board’s insights and collaborative efforts with the company’s leadership will be key to delivering an enhanced customer experience and driving growth in the coming years.
