Tesla Model Y Named Among Best Driving Cars of 2025 by Edmunds

The new Tesla Model Y has been named among Edmunds’ top test drives of 2025, with the publication highlighting how far the electric crossover has come since its earlier versions.

Once criticized for its stiff suspension and uneven build quality, the Model Y is now being recognized for delivering a smoother ride, a more refined cabin, and the kind of range and performance that keep it dominant in the EV segment.

Ride and interior upgrades

Edmunds noted that the latest Model Y could easily win a “Most Improved” award, with upgrades that address the model’s previous shortcomings. “The ride quality is perhaps the best among its competitors,” the review stated, calling it a complete turnaround from earlier generations.

Interior issues have also been resolved, with the outlet saying, “those interior build-quality issues? They’re entirely gone. The cabin took a much-needed leap forward in both fit and finish and materials alike.” This could be seen in video reviews of the new Model Y, many of which emphasized the cabin’s better build quality.

Strong performance and range

Beyond comfort and materials, Edmunds emphasized that the Model Y continues to excel where Tesla has always performed strongly. The publication pointed out the vehicle’s generous storage capacity, writing, “there’s an incredible amount of cargo room between the large trunk and frunk.”

Acceleration remains “plenty quick enough for the everyday haul,” while range is another standout. “You’ll net well over 300 miles of range (as long as you don’t drive like an absolute loon all of the time),” Edmunds said. While the minimalist interior may not be for everyone, the outlet noted that at least drivers still get a turn signal stalk, a feature absent in newer Tesla models like the Cybertruck and the Model 3 refresh.
