Tesla is making a bold move to boost electric vehicle (EV) sales by significantly enhancing its referral program, offering substantial discounts and incentives for both new buyers and existing Tesla owners.

Referral Program Overhaul

Tesla has revamped its referral program, significantly increasing rewards to attract more buyers and incentivize existing customers. The updated program offers a $2,000 discount for new buyers in the United States (U.S.), applicable across the entire vehicle lineup, including the highly anticipated Cybertruck. Existing Tesla owners can earn $1,000 in Tesla credits for each successful referral, enhancing the appeal of sharing Tesla with friends and family.

Varied Approach by Market

The program varies by market. In the U.S., the referral rewards extend to all models, including the Model S, Model 3, Model X, Model Y, and Cybertruck. New buyers receive a $2,000 discount on their vehicle purchase, while referrers gain $1,000 in Tesla credits.

In Canada, the program is more limited, focusing only on the Model S, Model X, and Model Y. Canadian buyers can enjoy a CAD 2,600 discount, while referrers earn CAD 1,300 in credits for each successful referral. These updates reflect Tesla’s strategy to tailor incentives by region, boosting accessibility and customer engagement in different markets.

The referral program boost is part of a broader sales strategy as Tesla aims to achieve record-breaking Q4 deliveries. The company has already delivered 1,293,656 units through the first three quarters of 2024 and is projecting growth to push annual deliveries to a new record.

Additional Incentives

Tesla is going beyond referral discounts by introducing a robust package of sales incentives aimed at attracting new buyers and rewarding existing customers. These perks include 0% financing, free transfers of Full Self-Driving (FSD) capability for eligible owners, and free Supercharging for certain vehicles.

Additionally, the company is offering discounts on inventory vehicles and reduced pricing on home charging solutions, making Tesla ownership even more accessible.

Tesla’s Global Approach

The approach to incentives is tailored by region. In the U.S., buyers can take advantage of a comprehensive range of discounts and credits, reflecting Tesla’s push to maintain its dominance in its largest market. In Canada, the incentives are more focused, with targeted offers designed to meet local demand.

Meanwhile, in Europe, Tesla is emphasizing free Supercharging and notable discounts on inventory vehicles, catering to the growing EV adoption rates in the region.

With just over a month left in the year, Tesla is pulling out all the stops to reach its ambitious delivery targets. By offering substantial financial incentives and leveraging its unique referral program, Tesla is positioning itself to close out the year on a strong note.
