Tesla Has The Lowest Cost For 10-Year Maintenance and Repair According To Study

If you are looking for an electric vehicle (EV) with low maintenance and repar costs, Tesla’s EVs might be the answer for you. Recently, a new study by Consumer Reports reported that Tesla’s EVs have the lowest costs when it come to maintenance and repair in the automotive landscape. 

The study conducted by Consumer Reports gathered its findings through. it 2023 Annual Auto Surveys members, where it compares the maintenance and repair costs for each vehicle from model years ranging from the year 2014 to 2023. As a result, it was concluded that Tesla had the lowest 10-year maintenance and repair costs. It showed that Tesla owners only had spent $4,035 in a 10 year span, which would have meanan average annual cost was only $403.50. 

Through the findings, Tesla had rank first over many of its competitors in the EV market including Kia, Volkswagen, Ford, and many more. For second place, Buick and Toyota had both tied with its 10-year maintenance and repair costing $4,900. 

Notably, the findings of the study had adviced that if you are searching for luxury vehicles, your chances to saving costs would be opting for domestic vehicle brands instead of international. 

Steven Elek, Program Leader for Auto Data Analytics at Consumer Reports, expressed the findings about Tesla’s low maintenance costs stating, “If you are considering a luxury model, it may be wise to purchase one from a domestic brand that may have lower maintenance and repair costs.”

In terms of EVs, the study spotlights the many advantages they have regarding maintenance affordability. This is due to EVs not having an engine but with electirc motors and batteries compared to internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles. In the long run, EVs would not need much maintenance because of its reliabilty compared to ICE vehicles. 

As for Tesla, the company has been at the forefront of making several strategic shifts and announcement of its robotaxi to its latest release of its Model 3 Performance. With Tesla setting growing efforts to further its position in the EV market, adding the findings from the study regarding its EVs had the lowest maintenance and repair cost would contribute the company’s position to place ahead of its competitors.
