Tata Passenger Electric Mobility and Tata Power Renewable Energy Unite To Offer Integrated EVs With Solar Rooftop Systems And Lowered Costs

Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd. (TPEML) and Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd. (TPREL) are joining hands to offer an integrated solution combining electric vehicles (EV) with solar rooftop systems through a partnership that could reshape India’s approach to zero-emissions mobility.
In detail, this partnership seeks to address two critical aspects of India’s journey towards Net Zero emissions: clean transportation and renewable energy generation. By enabling TPEML buyers to install solar rooftop systems through TPREL, the partnership offers a unique proposition that aims to reduce the total cost of ownership for EVs while simultaneously decreasing electricity bills for users.
The benefits of this integrated approach are manifold including:
Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director of TPEML and Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd., expressed the importance of this initiative stating, “India’s net zero journey can only be achieved by switching to EVs and renewable power. We see significant synergies between the customers of EVs and solar rooftop systems.”
Notably, the timing of this partnership aligns with the Indian government’s push for sustainable energy solutions. The recently launched PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, which aims to provide subsidized solar rooftop installations to 10 million households, complements the ongoing support for EV adoption.
Dr. Praveer Sinha, CEO & MD of Tata Power, highlighted the natural compatibility of these technologies stating, “Combination of Solar rooftop and EV is a promising, cost-effective, sustainable solution for India and hence naturally complementary. Both solutions appeal to the same set of eco-friendly and value-conscious customers.”
Furthermore, Tata Power is already making strides in expanding its green energy infrastructure. The company has installed over 101,000 home chargers and 5,600 public charging points across India. Its nationwide campaign, ‘GharGharSolar, Tata Power ke Sangh’, aims to promote solar rooftop adoption through a network of over 700 channel partners and retailers.
As India accelerates towards its Net Zero goals, this partnership between TPEML and TPREL will make electric mobility more accessible while also contributing to the broader vision of an expanding EV market in India’s automotive landscape.
