The Škoda Enyaq RS Race Concept Arrives With 250 kW Of Power And An Acceleration From 0 To 100 km/h In 4.6 Seconds

In the realm of electric vehicle (EV) motorsports, Škoda Motorsport has taken a bold step into the future of electric racing with the unveiling of its Enyaq RS Race concept, a cutting-edge all-electric racing EV that pushes the boundaries of sustainability and performance.
Based on the Enyaq Coupé vRS, this innovative concept car showcases Škoda’s commitment to eco-friendly motorsport technology and serves as a testbed for future production models.
According to Škoda, the Enyaq RS Race introduces several key features and innovations that set it apart from its production counterpart, starting with a remarkable weight reduction. Weighing 316 kg (around 696 lbs) less than the standard model, the Enyaq RS Race achieves this through the extensive use of biocomposite materials. These components, developed in collaboration with Bcomp, are integrated throughout the vehicle, including bumpers, wings, the roof, and interior elements.
One notable material used is AmpliTex, made from European-grown flax fibers, which offers rigidity comparable to carbon fiber but with a reduction in CO2 emissions by around 85%.
The concept also contains enhanced aerodynamics through a widened and lowered chassis, redesigned bumpers, and an optimized roof structure featuring a large rear wing. Sitting 70 mm lower and being wider at both the front and rear, the Enyaq RS Race achieves improved stability and aerodynamic efficiency, enhancing overall performance.
Despite using the same powertrain as the standard Enyaq Coupé RS, offering 250 kW (around 335 horsepower) of power and an 82 kWh battery, the significant weight reduction allows the EV to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds.
Safety is another focal point in the Enyaq RS Race’s design. It features a roll cage made from chrome-molybdenum steel, racing seats for added protection, and an automatic fire extinguisher system, reflecting Škoda’s goal to ensuring driver safety in high-performance scenarios.
Additionally, the EV is equipped with an advanced braking system that includes carbon-ceramic brake discs and supplemental cooling, providing enhanced stopping power and reliability during intense driving conditions.
Rally driver Oliver Solberg, one of the first to test the Enyaq RS Race, shared his enthusiasm stating, “I never thought I’d drive an electric car sideways. This car works really well.” Solberg praised the car’s stability, responsive steering, and immediate power delivery, noting that it “doesn’t feel like an SUV” due to its agile handling characteristics.
Johannes Neft, Škoda Auto Board Member for Technical Development, emphasized the concept’s role as a pilot project for future innovations: “The biocomposite parts have led to a significant weight reduction, and we are trialling them in motorsport, including in the current Škoda Fabia RS Rally2, with a view to future implementation.”
The development of the Enyaq RS Race also showcases Škoda’s commitment to sustainable manufacturing processes. The company utilized 3D printing for dozens of car parts, many of which are printed from recycled materials such as nylon or CO2-neutral biopolymers, further reducing the vehicle’s environmental impact.
The Škoda Enyaq RS Race concept represents a significant milestone in the evolution of electric motorsport. By successfully combining high-performance capabilities with sustainable materials and manufacturing processes, Škoda is paving the way for a new era of eco-friendly racing.
